THE
LEGACY
OF
ROYCE

HAROLD BAUER

DISCOVER HOW OUR FOUNDER CRAFTED THE BRAND THAT CONTINUES TO CARRY ON A FAMILY LEGACY FOR FOUR GENERATIONS

At a young age, from his paper routes as a youth to road trips across America selling his father’s leather accessories, Harold Bauer was a bona fide hustler, a true entrepreneur in the making.

In 1974

HAROLD FOUNDED
THE ROYCE BRAND

In the late 1960s, after learning the leather craft, he scaled his father’s gifting business to unprecedented heights.

His passion for people and product has been unrelenting throughout his tenure. Even on vacation, he loves discovering new gifting ideas and studying the trend of what people use during travel.

“For nearly 50 years, Harold has devoted his life to establishing and growing the ROYCE brand.”

In 2003

ROYCE WENT DIGITAL ESTABLISHING AN
E-COMMERCE PRESENCE

He ultimately partnered with his wife Kathy to establish our eCommerce business in 2003. Following in the footsteps of his father, his son Will joined ROYCE in 2014 to expand our department stores and corporate gifting partnerships.

Celebrating 70 Years

of leather craftsmanship in new york city

In 2016

ROYCE WAS RE-BRANDED AS “ROYCE NEW YORK”

ROYCE became ROYCE New York as an homage to the Bauer family’s 70th year of leather craftsmanship in New York City. With its artisanal roots stemming back to the 1880s in Vienna, Austria, ROYCE is a now a four-generation family tradition, and Harold has played an integral part in celebrating that proud tradition with his dedication to our craft.

Harold has always had a knack for “styling” as he calls it, and his eye for functional design is still incredibly relevant today. Many of his signature wallets, bags, and travel accessories from decades past continue to be ROYCE bestsellers in luxury department stores across the world, including Bergdorf Goodman, Saks 5th Avenue, and Neiman Marcus.

HAROLD’S PROUD LEATHER
TRADITION WILL ALWAYS ENDURE

His generosity of time and philanthropy will be his greatest legacy. He is a very active member of
the Rotary Club International, has been especially charitable to the United Way in Hudson
County, God’s Love We Deliver, and Bottomless Closet in Manhattan, and takes great pride in
mentoring employees at ROYCE.
